2018 Lego Advent Calendar: Day 21

I got through Death Mountain in Zelda 2. It was hell. It was pure hell.

The maze of caves and enemies seemed impossible. As soon as I reached the other side of the mountain, I would be easily killed by a random enemy and had to do the entire maze ALL OVER AGAIN!

And then, your reward for getting to the other side is ANOTHER cave you must fight through to get the hammer. And if you die in there, you have to go ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BEGINNING! Just for a dumb-ass hammer!

But, it is now the longest and darkest night of the year and it’s only fitting to spend it playing the longest and darkest game of all time.

Keep in mind, getting through Death Mountain leads you to the third palace. The third one. I’m only on the third “level” of this nightmare. There are six palaces in all. If I make it through this, I should win a car.

Speaking of prizes, in today’s Lego Calendar we find…

Candy Cane Clock!

In the past, I often complained that Lego Calendars are not very Christmas-y and seemed more concerned with crime and law enforcement than happiness and joy. That cannot be said of this year’s calendar, which is filled with more Christmas cheer than even the most luxurious of mall Christmas displays.

The Candy Clock is a welcome addition to my life. Walter the Poet Snowman and VK9000 the Christmas Song Robot had different feelings about this clock.

WALTER: Time is but a sweet gift, a treat gone all too soon. A clock is but a drum, summoning our inevitable finale.
VK9000: It reminds me of a song I just wrote called “Holiday Time” and it goes like this:

Christmas time is here and there
Being friendly nice
Christmas time is all around
With sugar and with spice.

Christmas time is good for us
It makes us love what’s here
Christmas on the train again
I will miss you…this year.

WALTER: The moment you fall asleep, I will kill you. The very moment.

Quincy wanted to see how clocks worked and climbed up, only to get stuck.

GREAT NEWS: Quincy has a second face! I didn’t see it when I first put him together, but the back of his head has a sad, scared face! Lego does this from time to time. I checked the others, but Quincy is the only one with two possible emotions. He’s a sensitive little guy.

Later that night, Robot Snowman took the clock while whispering, “1.28 Gigawatts.”

Day 21 Rating: 4.11 out of 5 (Points added for beauty and personality.)

See you tomorrow!
