Ode to Wawa

Do you know about Wawa? If you live in the Mid-Atlantic region, you do. Of course you do. Hell, you’re probably there right now. But to those poor souls not from the area, gather ‘round and I shall tell you of the oasis that is Wawa.

It’s a gas station with sandwiches.

The End

Hold on. I don’t think I did it justice.

Wawa is what 7-11 dreams of being. It has everything you’d find at any other gas station convenience store, but it’s all just a little bit better. Plus, they offer foodstuffs you can’t get at just any gas station. These include:

Meatballs In a Cup — it’s a cup filled with meatballs.
Made-To-Order Sandwiches
Macaroni and Cheese
Burrito Bowls
Milkshakes
All the Coffee
And Soft Pretzels stuffed With Sweet Cream Cheese

Ask for a cup of meatballs at any other gas station and you’ll either get ignored or you’ll end up in a situation best not discussed in a family-friendly website. Wawa is the best convenience store.

Wawa isn’t paying me to write this. I once contacted Wawa’s HQ to ask about writing a story on the chain of stores for a national magazine and they didn’t respond. But I don’t hold that against them. I still like Wawa.

There have been days when I visited the same Wawa three times, and days when I visit two or more different Wawas. And there are weeks when most of the nutrients in my body were purchased at Wawa.

It’s not the healthiest food. I know this. But it’s so convenient! They’re always open. Everything else is closed today due to the snow storm, but I know Wawa is bright and lively. Need milk, eggs, cup filled with pepperoni and cheese? Wawa’s open.

My girlfriend, brother and sister-in-law visit Wawa most holidays. It’s a tradition. Christmas Eve? Let’s just grab food at Wawa. Christmas Day? Wawa is on the way home from the Christmas party, so let’s stop and get a cup of Lobster Bisque. Fourth of July…well, you get it.

And I didn’t even tell you about the breakfast! They have breakfast!

So if there’s one thing to take away from this article, it’s that I like Wawa.

Also, I couldn’t think of anything else to write about today.

Happy Snow Day!
