Yesterday at approximately 5:17 p.m., the Christmas Shoes song erupted from the speakers of my car radio and clawed its way into my brain and soul.
I was so close to celebrating an entire holiday season without hearing that awful song.
I failed.
Next year. There’s always next year. *sigh* *hiccup*
This is the penultimate day of the Lego calendar. It all ends tomorrow. Today’s item better be great, because I could use a pick-me-up.
Today’s item is…
A BLACK FIREPLACE! With lightsabers! And a blue thing!
It’s incredible. It’s exactly what I needed after hearing that awful song yesterday.
A fireplace is a common element in a Lego Advent calendar. I haven’t checked my inventory, but since this is my fifth year opening the calendar, I probably have at least four fireplaces. (I doubt the Friends calendar was equipped with one, and I vow never to check.)
BUT THIS ONE IS BLACK…AND HAS LIGHTSABERS!
I don’t know what that blue thing on the mantle is meant to be. I assume it’s an ornament? Or maybe that’s what stockings look like in the Star Wars universe.
Principal McMurphy was quick to point out the dangers of fire (and drugs and unprotected sex and drunk driving and peer pressure and runnning in the hallway).
Luke took one of the new lightsabers, and wooshed it around with his black saber while yelling, “I’m a prequel!”
Huck added fire to the red saber and shouted, “I’m a new trilogy!”
Vance just mumbled in the background, “Aren’t lightsabers cool enough? Seems like pandering to keep adding flair to this so-called elegant and simple weapon.”
Luke and Huck were about to duel.
And then McMurphy used an extra lightsaber handle and the beige rod to create the world’s most boring lightsaber, which is primarily used to point to maps and explain branches of government.
Day 23 Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (Points added for being a delightful surprise.)
