It happens rarely, but there are those occasion when I open the Lego Calendar’s door only to be mildly disappointed, and then my opinion spins 180-degrees after I build the object. Today is one of those days. What appears to be just another regular thing, actually is made of many things, and without question, is the most dangerous Lego item I’ve opened, which explains the warning on the inside of today’s door.
Ladies and gentlemen, today’s Lego item is…
A Double Gun! (I’ll explain the name in a bit.)
Upon opening the door, here were my reactions.
Minute 0:00 – Oh. Another canon thing. Okay. Wonder why the warning? Neat, it has clear pieces.
Minute 0:30 – Sure are a lot of pieces. This is taking awhile to build. Hey…is that piece a gun? Cool!
Minute 1:15 – Wait…how does this all fit together? I’ve never seen one of these pieces before. Let’s see…the instructions say to put it…hmm. Okay. So it’s just a flippy little flipper piece? And it goes on…ahh. It’s a second gun? It looks like a T-shirt cannon? Big muzzle.
Minute 1:55 – Holy crap! When you plug the muzzle of the T-shirt cannon with a “snowball” it adds tension to the flippy thing? So, if I press the flippy thing now, it’s a trigger and with a little pressure…[Snowball piece goes flying across the room at a lethal velocity]. WHAT!!?? This is amazing! [Loads gun again. Fires gun. Laughs. Remembers what pure joy feels like.]
Okay folks. I know that the explanation is lacking, but you must believe me. This gun (a.k.a. Double Gun) is amazing. It actually shoots snowball pieces. Unlike calendar items in the past, the play-action feature works beyond expectation. I would take a video of it, but I’m sure no camera or wizard eyes are fast enough to capture the weapon in use.
This is fantastic. Words don’t do it justice. Just come over to my house and I’ll show you. The Double Gun is the best piece of the calendar thus far.
You have the pistol at the top, which is nice. And then the working canon at the bottom, which is proof that this holiday season shall be a joyous one filled with laughter and love. In fact, I assume the Hallmark Channel is already reading this blog and trying to turn my Lego Advent Calendar experience into a holiday movie called “Christmas In Our Hearts,” and it will inexplicably feature a shelter dog.
God bless us, everyone.
Later, after having a few mugs of “coffee,” Huck tried to use the Double Gun as a telescope to spy on, as he described it, “Moon bandits.”
Day 7 Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (Points added for being a double gun, and for giving me Lego pieces I had never seen.)
Avengers Calendar Day 7
It’s Iron Man! Though, since I’ve already consumed Iron Man earlier this month, let’s say this is War Machine.
Y’all know Dan. And you know he makes and sells magic pencils. And you already know you can buy the holiday Power Pack of all the pencils for the low price of $20. And you know the Power Pack comes with a roll-up carrying case that Dan sewed himself. You know all of this. You are so smart and Dan is proud of you.
