First, we have the winner from Day 17’s caption contest. A task was handed down to write an explanation of the scene pictured here on the right. All of the entries were fantastic, but my favorite came from Ryleigh who wrote:
“They Goat family is trying to recreate a scene from the off-Broadway science-fiction seasonal erotic musical that they recently went to see: Fear and Loathing in GoodWorld.”
The caption continued for a few more paragraphs, but the idea of a Sci-Fi off-Broadway show that features a shower setting, re-created by Mr. Ice Face and the Goat family, won me over instantly. I would see such a musical. I would see it twice.
Congrats, Ryleigh. You win 100 Dan Points. And everyone who entered gets 25 Dan Points. Everyone who didn’t enter gets 7 Dan Points, because I’m in the giving mood, and now when I meet Harrison Ford I can start the conversation with, “Did you know you already have 7 Dan Points? Will you be my dad?”
On to today’s item….
A Train Car!
The cover of the box shows (clothed) Santa riding a train, so this was expected. I’m sure we’ll get more Lego Train Cars and the Lego Train Engine before Christmas is here. That’s fine. I like trains. Plus this will give the Goat family something to say when neighbors ask, “Why the hell are there train tracks in your living room?”
Though they will still need an answer for the question, “Why is Santa Claus showering in your living room?”
I’m overjoyed with Naked Shower Santa. The rest of the calendar could be filled with real antigravity pills that gave me the ability to fly, and Naked Shower Santa would still be my favorite Calendar Item.
I wonder how the meeting went when the Lego Artists first pitched the idea of Naked Shower Santa?
ARTIST: And so on day 17, we’ll give the kids a shower.
LEGO CEO: That’s a bit strange, but whatever.
ARTIST: And then on day 18, we give ‘em Santa.
LEGO CEO: Good. I like Santa.
ARTIST: And Santa will be wearing a thong.
LEGO CEO: That’s nice. Santa should be strong.
ARTIST: No…I said “thong.”
LEGO CEO: That’s true – Santa does enjoy a good song.
ARTIST: Thong! T-h-o-n-g!
LEGO CEO: You spelled “song” wrong and your lisp is acting up again, but I forgive you. Now leave me alone. I’m getting a “thore” throat. Hahaha…You have a lisp.
Naked Shower Santa is enjoying his new train car. But the poor, nude wizard needs a push to get going. Mr. Ice Face, you know what to do…
Day 19 Rating: 3.2 out of 4 (Points deducted because I was expecting a Lego Toilet to go with the Lego Shower…or Naked Mrs. Claus. What?)
See you tomorrow.
And tomorrow night, I’ll be live-blogging “A Christmas Story” over on Facebook at 8 pm (est). Naked Shower Santa will be there too. (I’m making him into a pendant I can wear for the holidays – all the holidays, even Earth Day. And since Earth Day is everyday…)
