Happy Hanukkah!

To celebrate, I broke out the good ol’ Lego Menorah, built by yours truly.

""

This year, I have enough Santas to make it a genuine Santa Claus-themed Menorah. It really drives home my Half-Jewish heritage.

(A pile of Santas is one of the many rewards for opening so many Lego calendars. )

To all my fellow Half-Jews, Happy Whatever!

And how will Lego celebrate?

""

A Mini-Fire Truck!

That’s nice.

""

It seems like a lot of pieces for a tiny truck. I’m not complaining. I love it. It’s just a bit unnecessary. You could have built this thing with 3 pieces, maybe 2.

""

It feels like a 17-step recipe for Rice Krispie Treats. Not everything needs to be so complicated. It’s just Rice Krispies, marshmallow, butter and rum! That’s it!

""

The scale of the mini truck is confusing. I assume it’s a toy version of a fire truck. But it’s too big for the mini gas station.

""

And it seems too big for the Lego people.

But you know who isn’t too big?

""

He-Man.

I dug out my old He-Man. He was stored away in a plastic bin in my dad’s basement. I have a very clear memory of getting this toy for my 5th birthday. It’s a warm, joyful memory. There was no pandemic. No economic turmoil. No corroded car batteries. ‘Twas a simple time, a time of plastic muscle men and wonder.

I’m not crying.

He-Man’s size is a fun scale for Lego toys.

""

Though things can quickly get meta.

""

And violent.

""

Day 11 Rating: 2.8 out of 5 (Points deducted because the tires don’t move. Points added because my mom once decorated a cake with He-Man on it, and it was so cool and I went as He-Man for Halloween, and I remember coming home after school and sitting on the floor right in front of the TV to watch He-Man, which came on at 4:00 and the theme song makes me smile so hard it hurts my soul!)

See you tomorrow!
