Roseanne<\/strong> — When David\u2019s mom yells at him, and Darlene realizes that David\u2019s life is crappy. It\u2019s sad, but good. <\/p>\n

Frasier<\/strong> — The one where Fraiser needs to buy the \u201cOutlaw Laser Robo Geek\u201d for his son, but can\u2019t find one in the store. I love the name of that toy. Based on name alone, I want one too! Even if it\u2019s just the name for a tray of celery, I want one. <\/p>\n

The Office<\/strong> — Any Christmas episode of the US version s good. And the UK version\u2019s Christmas special is brilliant, if surprisingly upbeat and hopeful. <\/p>\n

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia<\/strong> — Charlie and Mac realize harsh truths about their childhood Christmas memories. <\/p>\n

\n\"img_1544\"<\/a>It\u2019s a Telescope, a Megaphone, and a Ladle!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ok!<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s remember that Playmobil calendars are less expensive than Lego calendars. Let\u2019s also remember that 2016 has been a weird, bad year. With those two things in mind, let\u2019s examine these wonderful oddities!<\/p>\n

\"img_1547\"<\/a>The telescope is nice and perfectly pirate-y. A pirate without a telescope is like a werewolf without a jetpack or a 9th place finisher on Dancing with the Stars<\/em> without a sense of regret regarding career choices. <\/p>\n

Pirates need telescopes. It\u2019s how they navigate and look for treasure and spot mermaids. A+ for this telescope. Let\u2019s move on to\u2026<\/p>\n

The Megaphone. <\/p>\n

\"img_1553\"<\/a>I don\u2019t know about this. I don\u2019t know why pirates need megaphones. I guess it’s for crying out, \u201cAvast!\u201d or \u201cHello, Mermaid! I respect you and your cultural nudity!\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve never seen a pirate use a megaphone. Jonas Cannoncube used it to stop Kayla and Hezzy from fighting. <\/p>\n

\"img_1551\"<\/a>HEZZY:<\/strong> Why won\u2019t you let me see your phone?
\nKAYLA:<\/strong> Why do you want to see my phone?
\nHEZZY:<\/strong> I just want to see it.
\nKAYLA:<\/strong> Tell me what you want to see and I can show you.
\nHEZZY: <\/strong>Can I just see it or a minute.
\nKAYLA: <\/strong>You can see it, but I\u2019m not letting you hold it.
\nHEZZY:<\/strong> I just want to see it.
\nKAYLA:<\/strong> You think I\u2019m texting Trevor? He<\/em> texted me<\/em>! I never texted him! I can\u2019t stop him from texting me! I\u2019m not the FBI of telephones, Hezzy!
\nHEZZY:<\/strong> Why did you make out with Barry at Six Flags!?!
\nKAYLA:<\/strong> That was two years ago! You and I weren\u2019t even dating!
\nHEZZY:<\/strong> YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WE\u2019D GET BACK TOGETHER!
\nKAYLA:<\/strong> You still owe me $440 for the tow truck!
\nHEZZY: <\/strong>And I told you, when my band gets paid for last night\u2019s party, I can give you $17 towards it! Relax!
\nKAYLA:<\/strong> Why did your friend Jared laugh when I said we were dating?
\nHEZZY:<\/strong> Why won\u2019t you give me your phone?!
\nJONAS:<\/strong> Shut up! You two are wrong for each other! Avast!<\/p>\n

So that\u2019s the megaphone. Which leads us to the greatest item of the day: The Ladle! <\/p>\n

\"img_1555\"<\/a>If you told me I would be gifted a ladle in mid-December, I would call you a liar and then offer you a candy cane because even liars get candy canes. It\u2019s Christmas! <\/p>\n

This ladle is stupid and I love it. This could be the Lego Sausage of Playmobil. And that sentence has never been written before in all of human history. (I just checked.) <\/p>\n

It\u2019s a ladle. It\u2019s golden-bronze in color. It\u2019s a bronze ladle! This isn\u2019t a utensil — it\u2019s a trophy! <\/p>\n

The Bronze Ladle! <\/p>\n

It can scoop soup, holiday punch…anything! <\/p>\n

\"img_1557\"<\/a>Now when people at Christmas parties ask me how many toy ladles I own, I won\u2019t have to lie! <\/p>\n

I imagine when children open this calendar and see the toy ladle, fights break out over who can play with it first. <\/p>\n

This ladle is why I open toy calendars every year. You know me. You know I like dumb things. This is among the dumbest. <\/p>\n

Avast, indeed! <\/p>\n
