"IMG_0318"It’s here! The last day of the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar!

While yesterday was a bit of a bust, I’m excited to see what Lego planned for the big finale.

Let’s see!

"IMG_0320"

It’s Santa C3-PO!

And it’s…okay.

"IMG_0321"

Look, this calendar has been a solid A this year, so complaining only makes me look like a whiner. But last year we got Santa Darth Vader w/ removable helmet that revealed the scared visage of burnt Anakin Skywalker — and it came with a cape.

So already this finale doesn’t live up to last year’s.

"IMG_0328"

Also, C3-PO sucks. He would make a terrible Santa Claus. He would only give children safe toys, like socks and instruction manuals for cool toys. He’d be like the house that gives you raisins for Halloween. He understands Christmas, but he doesn’t get it. And he’s far too nervous to offer you anything fun. He’s a first grade teacher who thinks pretzels count as dessert.

But he has a beard, so that’s cool.

IG-88 took the extra beard. He deserves it.

"IMG_0323"

Day 24 Rating: 3 out of 5 (Points deducted for being a disappointment.)

"SZQW1560"

And now it’s time to rank every item in this year’s calendar, from worst to best. (Numbers relate to ranking and do not correspond to the day the item was received.)

"IMG_0311"24. The Light Saber Sled

If not for the light sabers, this would probably be off the list completely.

"IMG_0037"23. Ewok Weapon Set

Maybe this is also an Ewok drun? Or maybe it’s just a table. It’s probably just a table with a cosmic trumpet.

"IMG_0140"22. Catapult

It ranked higher than expected because I like that green shrub.

"IMG_0174"21. Weapon Holder w/ Lever

Levers!

"IMG_0293"20. Gun W/ Control Panel

Control panel! But everything else about this is…meh.

"IMG_0217"19. Swivel Gun

At least this one swivels.

"IMG_0237"18. A-Wing/Candy Cane Ship

Better than a sled; worse than a Probe Droid.

"IMG_0283"17. Probe Droid

This little guy has grown on me since I opened it. Plus, it has the sweet, precious clear pieces.

"IMG_5987"16. Jabba’s Sail Barge

The first item was great…once I figured out what it was.

"IMG_0151"15. A.J.

I already have a few Stromtroopers, and last year I got tiny Santa hats for them. I’m not complaining, but…yeah…I’m complaining. I wanted more Christmas-y stuff.

"IMG_0005"14. Weird Tank Droid

The longer I look at him, the more I like him.

"IMG_0184"13. IG-88

While not as spectacular as Robot Snowman, this assassin droid is still fun and weird. Wish he had a Santa hat…

"IMG_0271"12. Ion Cannon

This gets high on the list for the ball-joint mechanism alone.

"IMG_0167"11. Star Destroyer

Simple and evil, just like birds.

"IMG_0247"10. Nova

Our only human Rebel, Nova had a lot of responsibility and two pairs of goggles.

"IMG_0333"9. C3-PO

He gets in the top ten just because I’m feeling nice. On any other day, he’d be 15th. Hope you appreciate this, Threepio.

"IMG_5993"8. The Sarlacc

What a wonderfully strange holiday item.

"IMG_0106"7. Ewok Playset

This is why the calendar is great. This was an item that made no sense in the picture, but after building it, you can tell what it is. Brilliant!

"IMG_0296"6. Reindeer R2-D2

Whenever something Christmas-y pops out, its a good thing. More of this, please.

"IMG_0013"5. Frisco

Our Jawa friend went through a lot this holiday season. Will he ever reconnect with ex-girlfriend Theresa? Of course he will. And it won’t end well. But that’s the life-path Frisco has chosen. Good luck, man.

"IMG_0028"4. Sandcrawler

The biggest and bulkiest vehicle in the set, the Sandcrawler was an early stand-out and still a highlight.

"IMG_0117"3. Stickles

He’s curious and pious.

"IMG_0204"2. Millennium Falcon

I finally have one! It’s my first Millennium Falcon!

"IMG_0312"1. The AT-AT

This should be no surprise. The AT-AT is clearly the winner. To call anything else better would be to lie, and to lie this close to Christmas is to spit on the face of Santa and Jesus. Gertie the AT-AT wins, and she’ll probably remain on my desk all year long.

Thanks for reading along! This calendar was a lot of fun, and I’ll certainly do another one next year. Until then, check back for new artcles and blogs. Starting a new Blogging Books series very, very soon. It’s gonna be rad!

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

This blog has always been brought to you by PowerPencils.com. There’s no better way to spend your Christmas cash and gift cards than by purchasing magic pencils! (But wait until the day after Christmas. I’ll be dropping a cool coupon code for eveything in my store. Tell no one!)
